To tackle this, get into the habit of checking your house and making sure all the lights are off in any rooms you have been in and/or are not using. You can also plug in devices into a power strip, and when you are not using any of them ,simply turn of the power strip. This is easy to do and can save you plenty in energy expenses.
2. Use LED light bulbs
LED lightbulbs are another good way to save on energy expenses. They use up less energy and save you money throughout their lifetime, roughly $100. They also are more convenient for you: they last longer and generate less heat than your standard light bulb.

Something that homeowners may overlook is the insulation of your home because it isn’t in plain sight. But improper insulation and sealings of your home can really hurt you wallet. The U.S Department of energy recommends you have your insulation checked once a year. Its also important to make sure that all of your windows and doors are properly sealed so no outside heat or cold is sneaking through any openings.
4. Utilize Natural Light
Another easy trick for saving on your energy bill is to utilize natural sunlight more. Simply opening blinds instead of turning on the lights in the room can make a big difference. Not only are you not using energy when it isn’t required, you also don’t risk leaving the lights on when you leave the room.
