Estero
In the early 20th century, these families moved upstream to the settlement that became known as Estero. In Estero there is also a utopian parish called Koreshan Unity, which remains today as the Koreshan State Historic Site. Until the 1970s, most of the settlements and developments in Estero were near the river.
The first homesteader is said to have been Gustave Damkohler, who grew citrus along the Estero River in 1882 and then used the river to transport his crops north across the Gulf of Mexico. He and some of his followers began to settle in Estero in 1894. Gustave Damkohler joined the group and donated his 320 acres of land to the unit.
Where flat rock prevented digging, land was filled to create land with navigable water. It served property owners in the area roughly bounded on the east by the Bay of Naples, Gordon Drive in the west and the land between 14th Avenue and 21st Avenue S, as well as Marina Drive, Forrest Lane and Southwinds Drive. The numerous canals and houses on the water give the southern part of Naples a special touch and offer many homeowners access to the Gulf of Mexico.
Cape Coral
The public yacht club, golf course, medical clinic and shopping center were in operation. An important innovation for Cape Coral was the construction of the 1,000 m long Cape Coral Bridge over the Caloosahatchee River, which opened in early 1964. Before the bridge, an excursion to Fort Myers was more than 20 miles across Del Prado Boulevard and Edison Bridge to cross the river.
Cape Coral is 14 miles from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), which carries nearly eight million passengers annually. In 2010, eighteen national and two international airlines, as well as the two largest freight companies, served the airport. In addition to Southwest Florida International Airport, Cape Coral is also served by Page Field, a general aviation airport in Fort Myers, 13 km from Cape Coral. Charlotte County Airport (PGD) is located in Punta Gorda, just 10 miles north of Cape Coral.

Originally founded by Dr.Henry Nehrling, the gardens were once a private collection of tropical plants.
The gardens were ready for occupancy again in 1954 and showed a large collection of tropical plants and birds.
Other animals were slowly added to the collection over the years and until 2001 the Naples Zoo in the Caribbean gardens was recognized and accredited by the National Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
You can visit the Naples Zoo in the Caribbean Gardens south of the Coastland Center Mall at 1590 Goodlette Road in Naples.

A symphony of side dishes (grilled asparagus, bitter green and sweet potato gnocchi, to name just a few) helps make the culinary experience in the region so welcome.
Sea Salt has been an integral part of the Naples restaurant scene since 2008.
Fort Myers
The Greater Myers area is served by two separate airports inside and outside the city limits. The area is mainly served by Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in the southeast of the city. The airport, located on 13,555 acres, is the 45th busiest airport in terms of annual passengers. It was ranked as one of the top ten airports for less than ten million passengers in the United States. In 1947, in commemoration of her late husband and for the enjoyment of the public, Mina Edison transferred the deed of the Seminole Lodge to the city of Fort Myers. In 1988, the neighboring Henry Ford winter estate was bought by the city and opened to the public in 1990. The combined properties are known today as Edison and Ford Winter Estates.

History
The United States waged three wars to remove them from Florida. Many of the battles in the Seminole Wars took place in southwest Florida. Today's state roads 82 and 93 became important arteries for the supply of troops. However, a few hundred Seminole Indians stayed behind and hid in the nearby Everglades.
Step back in time and see the living history of crackers and early Florida pioneers at the Immokalee Pioneer Museum on Roberts Ranch. The land and buildings tell the stories of the resilient people who once called the area their home. You can find the Immokalee Pioneer Museum on Roberts Ranch at Immokalee, 1215 Roberts Avenue West. The civil war also had an impact on the history of southwest Florida.
They fished for food along the coast, bays and waterways in southwest Florida. According to historical information, the men and boys of the tribe used palm trees to make nets. The nets were used to catch indigenous fish such as mullet, pinfish, pigfish and catfish. 6Instead of making stone arrowheads like other tribes, they built herringbone arrowheads to hunt deer and other animals.
