It only takes a jar of peanut butter and jelly!
During the school year, many families rely on school lunches to be their child’s main meal for the day; rather than be excited when school lets out for the summer, the children wonder if they’ll get to eat. We have decided to collect PB&J for Harry Chapin Food Bank so that we can help the families here in our community.
This is why the Treeline office wants to help; partnering with WAY-FM.
While growing up, I had friends in middle and high school that were on the free or assisted lunch programs. It never sunk in that it was sometimes their only meal. I was ignorant of the fact, until one time, I visited one of my friends for the day. When lunch time came around, on the bright, spring Sunday afternoon, she didn’t have any food in her house, and to a growing preteen, this was a headache. This didn’t bother me as I knew I could eat when I got home. After talking to her a little at school, I discovered that having no lunch or dinner was a common occurrence for her and her sister. After that, we just went to my house to hang out.
Getting involved is easy! Grab a jar of peanut butter and / or jelly the next time you’re at the store, and drop it off at our office (Treeline Realty: 3850 Colonial Blvd Suite 200 Fort Myers, 33966 FL) between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm, Monday thru Friday.
The marketing director is also offering a drawing for a gift of 25$ towards family photos. It’s easy, put your information on the paper at our reception when you donate, and at the end of May, we will pick one at random.
